Reinvestment Act of 2009.
This act provides for the one-time payment of $250 to individuals who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security benefits.
We expect everyone who is entitled to a payment to receive it by late May 2009. No action is required on your part unless you do not receive the payment by June 4th. As we move to implement the new legislation, we will continue to provide updates to keep you informed of our efforts in this area.

Assembly Member Mark Schroeder introduced Assembly Bill 02242 in the New York State (NYS) Assembly last month. This bill intends “to amend NYS education law in relation to instruction on the history of people with disabilities”, meaning that the history of people with disabilities is now required to be covered through instruction during, but not limited to, the third full week of October in all NYS schools to students over the age of eight years old. As you may have heard by now, Governor Bredesen of Tennessee is on the short list of candidates to replace Daschle as nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services. Governor Bredesen was the Governor who led Tennessee to be the worst state in the nation for long term services and supports, and was Governor when last ADAPT went to Tennessee. ( 2.9 / 33 )NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) and the Mayors Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) has launched an Accessible Dispatch System for Accessible Taxis.
The dispatch system is for passengers that use wheelchairs and scooters. It works by linking passengers that use wheelchairs with accessible vehicles through a central dispatcher. Anyone that uses a wheelchair and wants to take a taxi in New York City can use this service
WHAT SHOULD I KNOW?
When taking a taxi always meet the taxi driver on time at the curb of the street.
The driver is allowed to turn on the meter at pickup time before helping you into the car (if he is at pickup location).
The driver must wait 10 minutes from pickup time before leaving.
Up to three additional passengers (not in wheelchairs) can fit in the vehicle with a passenger that uses a wheelchair.WHAT SHOULD I KNOW?
